Der in dem Artikel beschriebene Ansatz kombiniert das Asset Management mit der Prozessfuhrung, um die Verfugbarkeit einer Produktionsanlage zu erhohen. In der Prozessfuhrung werden im Rahmen von Performance Monitoring einzelne Assets unter Berucksichtigung des Prozessumfeldes uberwacht. Dabei werden nur Komponenten beobachtet, die fur die Fuhrung des Prozesses kritisch sind. Die Uberwachung beinhaltet nicht die Funktionstuchtigkeit im Vergleich zu Auslegungsdaten sondern die Funktionstuchtigkeit im Vergleich zu dem geforderten Zustand der Komponente im laufenden Prozess. Typische Uberwachungsaufgaben sind der Verstopfungsgrad von Mischern, Warmetauschern oder Filtern sowie die Standzeit von Katalysatoren. Dieses so genannte Asset Monitoring wird bislang als Einzellosung bezogen auf den jeweiligen Prozess durchgefuhrt. Die Anwendung erfolgt in laufenden Anlagen, in der Planungsphase werden redundante Auslegungen von Apparaten haufig bevorzugt. Der Schwerpunkt des Asset Monitoring wechselt in dieser Anwendung die Sicht von der Optimierung der Instandhaltungskosten zur Erhohung der Verfugbarkeit der Anlage und damit zur Reduzierung von Produktionsverlusten. Anhand von Beispielen aus der Produktion wird gezeigt, dass Asset Monitoring sich lohnt, wenn die Anwendung wohl uberlegt ist und passende Sensoren zur Verfugung stehen. Ein Einsatz von Asset Monitoring in der Planungsphase einer Anlage erlaubt die Vermeidung von redundant ausgefuhrten Apparaten, die dann stattdessen uberwacht werden. Zusatzlich ist eine freie Auswahl von Messsensoren moglich, die in diesem Stadium preiswert und einfach installiert werden konnen, im Nachrusten aber oft zu teuer sind, um wirtschaftlich zu sein. Langfristig konnen Asset Monitoring und Performance Monitoring als Anwendungen fur Produktion und Instandhaltung gleichermassen bedeutend sein.

Although research recognizes the importance of performance feedback to individual performance, the effects of feedback are complex and not fully understood. In this study, I extend research on the multidimensional nature of feedback by examining the effect of three feedback attributes (control, source, and constructiveness) on individuals' task performance. As predicted, giving participants control over feedback enhanced their desire to improve. Additionally, constructiveness and feedback source interacted to affect interpersonal fairness. Interpersonal fairness, in turn, directly influenced participants' level of attention which moderated the relationship between their desire to improve and their actual task performance.

There is a great appreciation for the application of physiological monitoring within competition for individual sports. Physiological monitoring allows feedback on exercise dose-response, exercise intensity, and exercise performance. Both subjective and objective parameters are commonly measured in the field sports, but research investigating the accuracy and applicability of monitoring tools in a competitive environment for individual athletes is limited. This narrative review highlights the strengths and weaknesses of individual devices to measure a variety of parameters, including physiological performance, and biochemical and subjective parameters. Based on an analysis of the existing scientific literature, practical applications are provided for coaches.

Purpose - The use of management processes based on a systemic approach in the management of organizations aims the perception of the organizations in a more comprehensive way, integrating the various activities through the verification of the horizontal vision of the customer's satisfaction. But this perception is not easy to achieve. Thus, in order for the process management, a survey was conducted in the monitoring of performance indicators of a manufacturer of children's toys company, midsized, located in the Rio Pardo Valley, in the city of Santa Cruz do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul State - Brazil. Design/methodology/approach - It was evaluated the indicators used by the organization in the following dimensions: products, main processes, support processes, learning and growth, customer, strategy and plans, with the aim of permeating the vision of process management. From the results tabulation it was possible to realize the understanding of the process agents studied in relation to the business, mission, organizational vision and values, as well as establish indicators measured among which are the active, inactive and absent. Findings - At the end, the results of this research showed important facts perceived by the organization in the development and deployment of its performance or development indicators. The amount of 36 percent of the indicators analyzed are active and of these only 16 percent are related to the customer perspective. Originality/value - With the study it was possible to identify which organization's objectives are disclosed and accompanied, through commitment and discipline are suggested improvement ideas to contribute to the mission, vision and values that are fully disseminated among the employees.

While high-level languages come with significant readability and maintainability benefits, their performance remains difficult to predict. For example, programmers may unknowingly use language features inappropriately, which cause their programs to run slower than expected. To address this issue, we introduce feature-specific profiling, a technique that reports performance costs in terms of linguistic constructs. Feature-specific profilers help programmers find expensive uses of specific features of their language. We describe the architecture of a profiler that implements our approach, explain prototypes of the profiler for two languages with different characteristics and implementation strategies, and provide empirical evidence for the approach's general usefulness as a performance debugging tool.

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to evaluate and analyze lube oil performance. The plant experience shows that the oil, even after completion of a number of hours of recommended operation, has some residual life. It is desirable to maximize its use to conserve this scarce resource but avoid failures. At present, continuation or change of the oil is decided, based on the manufacturer's recommendation and experience in the plant. The suggested oil change period is conservative and results in non-efficient usage of oil. This practice needs refinement to include all possible properties/attributes of oil and use of appropriate procedure to assess its realistic performance. Design/methodology/approach - Parameter profile approach (PPA) is applied to evaluate and analyze the lubricating oil performance parameters. Findings - Physical and chemical properties related to degradation of the lube oil are considered as lubricating oil performance parameters. The value of these performance parameters from time to time, obtained by analyzing samples drawn from the system, are analyzed through PPA. In this approach, mean, median, performance parameter index and time performance index are defined and evaluated at different time intervals. The suggested procedure is illustrated by means of an example. Originality/value - The suggested procedure will be helpful for the maintenance personnel in planned oil replacement, and in identifying the weak oil properties in respect of the identified lube oil performance parameters.

Die zunehmende Automatisierung mittels Leitsystemen und die Einfuhrung von historischen Datenarchiven erlauben heute Auswertungen von Langzeitdaten und damit auch Ruckschlusse auf Produktionskosten und Qualitat. Da aber das Vorgehen zur Anlagenoptimierung keineswegs Allgemeingut ist, entschloss sich der Fachausschuss 6.22 "Industrielle Anwendungen komplexer und adaptiver Regelungen" der Gesellschaft fur Mess- und Automatisierungstechnik (GMA), einen ersten Erfahrungsaustausch als Aussprachetag mit dem Titel "Anlagenoptimierung durch Performance Monitoring und Alarm Management" .zu organisieren. Dieser Artikel gibt einen Uberblick uber diese Veranstaltung, die am 7. und 8. April 2005 im VDI-Haus in Dusseldorf stattfand.
